Hotel Schani Wien: Frequently asked questions

Bookings & Cancellations
- Which payment methods are accepted?
Payment methods accepted for overnight stays AMEX, Apple Pay, Diners, Discover, Klarna, Maestro, Mastercard, UnionPay in Euro and Visa. Charges for services on invoices to be paid at a later date must be discussed with Hotel Schani Wien in advance.
Payment methods accepted on-site for the consumption of food and drinks or other goods and services provided by Hotel Schani Wien include cash in euros, or payments by debit card, AMEX, Apple Pay, Diners, Discover, Google Pay, JCB, Maestro, Mastercard, UnionPay in Euro, Visa, Apple Pay, Vpay.
- Do I need to make a down payment when booking?
No deposit is required when booking a flexible rate. When booking a non-refundable rate, the full amount will be charged directly to the credit card provided at the time of booking.
- How long is the free-of-charge cancellation period?
When booking a flexible rate, you can cancel or change your booking free-of-charge until 3:00 pm on the day of arrival. Should you cancel after 3:00 pm on the day of your arrival, you will be charged the full amount of your stay. Additionally, your right to use the room will become void. Should you want to change your booking and the desired alternative dates are unavailable, you will not be able to change your reservation.
Should you have booked a non-refundable rate, the full amount of your reservation will be charged to your credit card. In general, non-refundable reservations cannot be cancelled or changed and your money will not be refunded. If your credit card is denied, Hotel Schani Wien reserves the right to cancel your reservation. This will also void your right to use any room.
- Does the room rate include taxes?
Our rates include all mandatory taxes, levies, and fees. Should tax, levy or fee levels change or new, additional taxes, levies and fees be introduced, Hotel Schani Wien reserves the right to adjust its rates appropriately. Our room rates are shown per room per night.
Check-in & check-out
- What are your check-in and check-out times?
You can check into your room from 3:00 pm onwards. Should you arrive earlier, you can store your luggage at the hotel and start exploring the wonderful city of Vienna. Check-out is until 12 noon.
- Is there an option for late check-out?
Do you want to fully savor your last day? Should this be the case, you can book a late check-out option. Check out later at 1:00 pm. We charge 15 € for the late check-out.
Reception & Bar
- Is the reception open 24/7?
You can arrive at our hotel 24/7 and our self check-in counter is available around-the-clock. However, please let us know if you wish to arrive after midnight.
- Is there a bar in the hotel?
Yes – Schani’s Bar is the perfect meeting point for everyone looking for small but delicious snacks, meeting with friends, or relaxing with good drink. Happy Hour is from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm – with 50% off the drink of the day. Curious? Then, take a look at our drinks menu.
Breakfast
- When is breakfast?
Breakfast is available from 6:30 am to 10:00 am on Mondays to Fridays and from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon at the weekends and on public holidays.
- Does breakfast cost extra?
You can add breakfast to your booking at 22 € per person. If you are already staying with us and haven’t booked breakfast, you can enjoy it spontaneously for 22 € per person. Just ask one of our Guest Schanis at reception. External visitors can enjoy our breakfast as well for 25 €.
- Can external visitors also have breakfast?
Of course, our breakfast is available to both hotel guests and external visitors. So, get your friends and family and head over to us at Hotel Schani Wien – we’ve got a delicious, well-stocked buffet with a wide range of delicacies that no one can resist.
- Can I reserve a table?
No, reservations are not possible. However, there is plenty of space in our generous lobby and you can enjoy our breakfast as an external guest when there are free tables.
Digital travel companion
- What can our digital travel companion do for you?
We have digitalized lots of things, so you can really focus on enjoying your stay in Vienna. You can fill out all your personal details on our form in advance of your arrival using our Web App. This means you can do your mobile check-in and mobile check-out simply and easily via smartphone. We will send you all the information you need beforehand by email.
Your smartphone will also become your room key thanks to our Web App. Your mobile key will be ready to download directly after check-in. However, should you prefer a good old-fashioned key card, we will gladly give you one.

Arrival & Mobility
- How do I get to Hotel Schani Wien?
Hotel Schani Wien is located centrally, near Vienna’s Main Station. There is a tram stop (D line) directly opposite the hotel entrance, which takes you to the city center in 10 minutes. All other routes to our hotel can be found here.
- How far is Vienna International Airport?
You can get from Vienna International Airport to the Main Station directly using the Railjet in 15 minutes without changing transport lines. The Railjet travels to and from the airport every 30 minutes from about 6:30 am to 11:00 pm daily.
- Is there an airport shuttle?
Unfortunately, there is no airport shuttle from Hotel Schani Wien. However, should you still need one, we can organize an airport taxi for you. Just contact us!
- Can we hire e-scooters and bikes?
We offer no bike rentals, but have scooters, longboards, and e-scooters, which can be hired at the reception. Direct bookers pay no charges for such rentals.
- Are there parking spaces? How much do they cost?
You should have no problem parking at our hotel. You can park in our garage as long as space is available. The garage entrance is on the Alfred-Adler-Straße side of the building. Take your ticket as you enter and pay at the reception (3.80 € per hour, max. 25 € per day).
- Where are the Tesla and e-car charging stations?
Schani’s Garage has a Tesla and a general EV charging station for EV drivers. Our guests can charge their vehicles here, while making themselves comfortable in Schani’s Living Room or in a Smart Room.
- Can I rent a car?
Should you want to rent a car, you can do it directly at the airport: Sixt Car Hire.
- Can I store my luggage if I arrive early or want to depart later?
You can place your luggage in our storage area free-of-charge, if you arrive earlier or depart later.
Workshops & Seminars
- What seminar facilities are available?
Would you like to host a seminar or meeting and are looking for suitable facilities? Then Schani’s Ground Floor, Schani's Rooftop and Schani's Boardroom are the right choice for you! Please send us your request.
- What are the capacities of your facilities?
Each facility has a different capacity, depending on the layout. Here is a list of the maximum number of persons per room:
Schani’s Ground Floor: up to 70 persons
Schani’s Rooftop I: up to 36 persons
Schani’s Rooftop II: up to 23 persons
Schani’s Rooftop I & II: up to 99 persons
Schani's Boardroom: up to 7 persons
- Is there catering and are there packages?
We can create an individual offer for your events with snacks for breaks and all-round service, depending on your needs. Simply send us your request.
Coworking
- Who uses the Coworking Space?
There are many different possibilities in our open, spacious lobby. Look for your favorite spot, our ultra-high-speed WiFi is free-of-charge, of course. Both local people and hotel guests mingle here.
- What types of workspaces are there?
You can choose between Flex Desk and Fix Desk.
Flex Desk: you get a table you can work on properly. Enjoy the atmosphere of the Your Space Gallery or network with others in the lobby. You can go back to the same desk the next day or switch tables, depending on availability.
Services included: desk, ultra-high-speed WiFi, color printer.
Fix Desk: choose your coworking space and work in the Your Space Gallery at a fixed spot. We ensure enough working space and provide a locker for your personal belongings. Now, you can really get going!

- What are the prices?
Hotel guests can use our Coworking Space free-of-charge. The prices for external visitors are:
Flex Desk: 10 € per day; 90 € for 10 days (usable within three months); 150 € for 30 days (usable within six months)
Fix Desk: 190 € per month
- When is the Coworking Space open?
Our Coworking Space is open 24/7. As a coworker, you can also enjoy round-the-clock service at the bar and order coffee and snacks well into the night.
- Is there a printer?
Yes, there is a print available for coworkers. Details of how to connect to the printer are available in the Coworking Space.
- Is there the possibility to store things safely?
Yes, there are plenty of lockers that objects can be stored in.
Events
- What event locations are there?
We can offer you Schani's Ground Floor and Schani's Rooftop for your individual events and can help you with the planning to ensure an unforgettable occasion. Please send us your request.
- What is the capacity of the room?
Up to 140 persons, depending on the room and layout.
- Is there catering and are there packages?
We can create an individual offer for your event, depending on your needs. Simply send us your request.
Dogs, Bitcoin & Co
- Is my dog allowed to stay in the hotel with me?
We love animals and, so, your dog is also welcome here! However, there is a charge of an additional 19 € per night for the extra cleaning. Just add your dog to the list when you book via our website.
- Thirsty on your arrival?
Book your stay for two or more nights via our website and enjoy a welcome Gin & Tonic at Schani’s Bar!
- Digital currency? No problem, we have a bitcoin machine!
Are bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies your thing? Well, we also like smart technologies at Hotel Schani Wien, and this is why we have a bitcoin machine in our lobby.

If you’re looking for small snack, you can order Viennese specialties and fine delicacies at Schani’s Bar. Should you feel really hungry, visit our favorite pizza place called Mezzaluna, round the corner. If you fancy Mediterranean food, try restaurant Urban next door. If you’d like to have food in the city center, ask our Guest Schanis at the reception for insider tips.
- What are the best places for shopping?
What would a holiday be without proper shopping tour? You can find Vienna’s best shopping streets here.
- I like wine! What would you recommend?
Thankfully, Hotel Schani is located on tram line D. This line will take you directly to Nussdorf, where you can find one Viennese wine tavern (called Heuriger) after another. This area is also excellent for so-called Wine Walks through the local vineyards.
